AUSTIN, Texas — A four-vehicle crash on I-35 killed one person Saturday morning, June 8, 2013.
Dead is Mary Lillie Hemphill, 31, who was at the wheel of a Ford Expedition heading the wrong way — southbound in northbound lanes — of Interstate 35 close to Rundberg Lane. Her Ford Expedition first struck a Lexus, causing the Lexus to strike a large truck. The Ford also hit a Ford F-150 pickup head-on.
The Expedition erupted in fire, and Hemphill was dead at the scene of the four-vehicle north Austin crash.
The Lexus driver and the freightliner truck driver were not hurt. The F-150 pickup driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge.
